The DPD residual chlorine reagent is a DPD tablet. It is a reagent suitable for the detection of residual chlorine in swimming pools. It can quickly detect the concentration of residual chlorine in the water. The detection range of the DPD reagent is 0-0.1mg/L. Compare the color of the water with the color of the color card. The closest reading is the residual chlorine concentration of the water sample.
Why we need DPD test?
Pool operators need to be confident that the disinfectant is correctly dosed and controlled, for both the health and comfort of the bathers. Disinfection of swimming pools is usually achieved using chlorine. Adequate free chorine is required to prevent infections, while eye irritation is minimised by keeping the combined chlorine residual as low as possible.
Studies from many countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe agree that pool water is safe when the chlorine content is maintained at 1.5 mg/L (or higher) and the pH is between 7.0-7.4. Although experts generally believe that the risk of infection from swimming pools is small, because when the virus enters the water, it will be diluted, and active disinfection will make the virus inactive. However, only regular effective testing and management of swimming pool facilities can fully ensure the water safety of swimming pool users.
